The sprawling campus of Kaduna State University [KASU] is not just a hub of academic pursuits; it is a melting pot of dreams, aspirations, and countless stories waiting to be told. The life in campus is different from life outside campus because it is like an entire different world due to the kind of activities that’s being carried out. Having to start a life all by yourself as an adult, from deciding what to eat, going for lectures, attending other activities to making a good grade is a choice you must decide by yourself.
The campus becomes a hub of activity, with
students engaging in discussions, collaborating on projects, and creating memories. It’s a dynamic environment that fosters learning and prepares students for their future endeavors.
And that’s just the beginning! Alongside the academic aspects, campus life offers a wide range of extracurricular activities. From sports teams and clubs to cultural organizations and student government, there’s something for everyone. Students life is not without its challenges:
Most student end up being influence by friends whereby people make choices for them because they want to meet up with other people standard. Students get influence by the flashy lifestyle of celebrities which they see as trend. Wanting not to be left behind is another reason that influence students life on campus.
Many students faces financial breakdown at some point in school which is popularly known as being Broke. At this phase life becomes tougher and many things keeps running through one’s mind. Starting from indulging into dubious act like prostitution and rubbery. This are critical challenges that students face in campus
Balancing academic demands with personal commitments can be daunting. Yet, it is through these challenges that students grow and discover their resilience.
In an interview with one of KASU ex-student, Laurat Sani Muhammad, we were able to look into students life in the hostel.
“Staying at Kasu students hostel looked like playing house with friends to me, arguments and reconciliation with roommates, protests on the low electricity and many more. Four years later, I realized how much that experience has shaped me into an individual who has participated and can participate in promoting leadership choices, careful choices and more understanding of decision making, how they affect me and the people around me,” she said.
Every campus has its own unique traditions that add flavor to students experience. From spirited homecoming celebrations to annual festivals, these traditions bring the campus community together, creating a sense of unity and pride.
At the end of every session, Kaduna State University [KASU] holds a student week with social activities that ranges from cultural day/performances, old school day, school uniforms day wherein students wear primary or secondary school uniforms to reminisce old school days, etc.
This event is created and participated by academic staffs, non academic staffs and most of the students of the university. This event displays a community that has stood by each other, leaned on each other, learned from each other, presenting and celebrating each other cultures.
In the grand tapestry of student life, every individual thread weaves a unique story, contributing to the vibrant fabric of the university community. It is a period of growth, resilience, and self-discovery that prepares students for the challenges that lie beyond the campus gates.
